Synopsis
Plants are sessile organisms, which face a lot of variations in their environment. Studying plant responses to various fluctuations can help us understand their clouded world. Which will directly benefit humankind with better crop yields, back-ups for subsistence crises, and perhaps ways to battle climate change.
The Secret of Plants In The Environment gives the reader insights into the science behind plant responses and stimuli. Both budding and established biologists will be enthralled by the knowledge this book contains. It portrays both positive and negative aspects of variations, be it light, magnetic fields or heat.
Read this book and get lost in the plant kingdom!
Review
Firstly, I would like to thank the author, Rishikesh Upadhyay, to send me a copy of this awesome book. You can check out the book here.
The book begins by giving the reader some knowledge about one of the most mysterious substances, soil. How all life forms are linked to the soil. One’s existence is not possible without it. Then, there is a transition from the world of soil microbes to plants.
This book beautifully portrays how nothing in excess is permanent. Plants can’t survive without the warmth and light of the sun, but extreme amounts give rise to droughts, which are an alarming threat to the flora.
All facts the author presents are systematically backed up by case studies and further reads. It just tells how much research the author has done!
Adaptation and evolution is nature. In times of natural calamities, when food becomes scarce, these studies of how we can maximise production and maintain a buffer stock can come in handy.
We may have ventured the space, but our own Earth remains a mystery. The varieties of flora and how they interact with their surroundings is a whole wide area of research.
I am no university professor, nor an established scientist, so I can’t or shouldn’t give a rating to this book. It’s not a novel so that I can dive into the characters, but engaging all the same.
Do check out the book!

Haha! I guess they won’t. Who cares for the environment? Just exploit it while you are in power, is their motto.
Thanks for the appreciation!!

You are so right about Earth remaining a mystery. And I love that we can still explore and find animal and plant species, which are new to us. It never fails to amaze me.

I’m not surprised – a book reviewer’s work is never done! 😀 That’s very kind of you but there’s no rush. I noticed your page about your reviewing rules in which you said you will not review individual books from a series, only the series as a whole, so I wasn’t expecting you to review LW and the Secret Society as you’d already reviewed some of the series before 🙂

Well, bending the rules here and there for a friend is all right! Plus my review policy is not a sacred constitution. I can always tweak it, after all I wrote it😂😉
